Going back to watch The Walking Dead again from the start, like I did recently, causes you to evaluate many things. One of which is the way that walkers have changed throughout the duration of the show. We spoke to the shows executive producer and director Greg Nicotero about the evolution of walkers in The Walking Dead. Nicotero, who has a rich background in special make up effects, told us that although the shows walkers are there primarily to further the story, he loves to throw some cool zombies in there from time to time because he loves being able to design some weird stuff.Like the recent spiked walker  named Winslow  from episode 10 of Season 7. It came out of an early conversation with [showrunner] Scott Gimple, he says. I was thinking about the original Planet of the Apes when theyre going through the desert and they see the scarecrows and there were these weird, creepy, foreboding images. And Scott said: Oh, we might have this walker thats like an art installation inside this garbage dump. So we took a motorcycle gas tank and made the helmet out of it.Nicotero says that this season has been an epic one for creative zombies. Even the walkers in the first episode that were crushed by the log pile that was on fire, he says. We had a lot of blistering and sloughing-off skin. And then the walkers on the bridge in episode 6 with Tara. We went for a more desiccated, mummified look  they were all dried out because they were under that pile of sand. Its been a great opportunity to keep changing it up season after season and this year weve had a lot of great opportunities.So how will the walkers continue to evolve in future seasons? We know that walkers continue to decay over time I know what well never see. Well never see walking skeletons, says Nicotero.Why? Find out when you watch the video above.

The Evolution of the Walker in The Walking Dead

As The Walking Dead ramps up the tension in the final episodes of Season 7, were bracing ourselves for major deaths. We hate to see our favourite characters leave the show  especially if they meet a grisly end. But with anyone liable to cark it at any time, its good to be prepared. And that includes the cast, who seem more embracing of their character dying than the rest of us. We asked the cast of The Walking Dead how theyd like to see their character die in the show. Norman Reedus, Josh McDermitt, Tom Payne, Austin Amelio, Seth Gilliam, Alanna Masterson and Ross Marquand  who play Daryl, Eugene, Jesus, Dwight, Father Gabriel, Tara and Aaron respectively  shared their thoughts on how theyd like to see their character bow out. I would like to just walk away and go up a mountain, and then a little dog jumps out of the woods and follows me up and over the mountain. And theres a sunset, and people just go: Whatever happened to that guy? Like Outlaw Josey Wales, like a Clint Eastwood movie, says Norman Reedus. As for Josh McDermitt, he wants Eugene to go out a hero. Weve certainly seen some moments that Eugene has had in the past where hes stepped up to help others, says McDermitt. I think Rosita having the bullets and trying to shoot Negan, that certainly was a situation that went haywire. But Eugene did a heroic thing, stepping up and saying: Im the one who made the bullet. He could have died right there in that moment and he would have gone out as a hero. He adds, But honestly, with a character like Eugene, we dont know how he would die. He might just go out by choking on a sandwich. Austin Amelio, meanwhile, aspires to the death of one of the shows most popular characters: Michael Cudlitz had a pretty epic death. He had his last piece before he died. I dont know what that would entail but something along the lines of that would be nice. And Ross Marquand? Alien zombies. How the Walking Dead Cast Would Want to Die

Staffel 8, Folge 2, „Die Verdammten”

Hallo und willkommen zur 2. Ausgabe der FANDOM-Zombie-News zu “The Walking Dead”. Der Krieg hat also begonnen; die ersten Schlachten sind geschlagen. Rick und die Überlebenden aus Alexandria, Hilltop und dem Königreich gehen ihren zugeteilten Aufgaben nach und bringen die einzelnen Puzzleteile in Position, die gemeinsam den Plan ergeben, mit dem sie Sanctuary zu Fall bringen wollen.

Gepanzerter Überfall
Einer der Saviour-Außenposten wird von Aaron, Eric und weiteren Kämpfern aus Alexandria mit ihren provisorisch gepanzerten Wagen überfallen. Was folgt ist ein die komplette Folge überspannendes Feuergefecht. Als die Saviours sich noch wundern, warum die Angreifer nicht weiter vorrücken, erkennen sie zu spät, dass dies aufgrund der vielen Todesopfer gar nicht nötig ist. Bei einem Gegenangriff gerät Eric in Bedrängnis, doch Aaron kann ihm zu Hilfe eilen, allerdings nur um festzustellen, dass sein Freund einen Bauchschuss abgekommen hat.

Königliche Jagdgesellschaft
Unterdessen befinden sich Ezekiel, Carol und die Krieger des Königreichs auf der Jagd. Der Saviour, der ihnen in der letzten Folge entkommen ist, darf Sanctuary nicht erreichen, um es zu warnen. Dabei entdecken sie auch einen äußerst ungewöhnlich anmutenden Beißer, der von einer schleimigen Substanz überzogen ist. Für Nachforschungen bleibt allerdings keine Zeit. Der eigentliche Ausreißer wird letztendlich gefunden und Ezekiels Tiger Shiva gebührt die Ehre, kurzen Prozess mit ihm zu machen.

Gnade vs. Zorn
Im Satelliten-Außenposten, der bereits in Staffel 6 von Ricks Leuten vorübergehend eingenommen wurde, haben sich erneut Saviour eingenistet. Jesus, Tara, Morgan und Co. wollen den Komplex noch einmal übernehmen. Dabei geraten Jesus und Tara aneinander, ob Gnade wirklich der richtige Umgang mit den Saviours ist. Morgan wird derweil von alten Geistern heimgesucht und lässt sein pazifistisches Ich nicht nur symbolisch zurück. Das Gelände wird erobert und es werden Gefangene gemacht; darunter auch der Charmebolzen Jared. Morgan kann da verständlicherweise nur schwer die Kontrolle über sich behalten.

Ricks Erkenntnis
Rick und Daryl befinden sich unterdessen auf der Suche nach einem Waffenarsenal der Saviours, in dem auch schweres Gerät zu finden ein soll. Doch Rick findet etwas ganz anderes: In einem Kinderzimmer liegt ein einsames Baby. Rick sieht sich im Spiegel und realisiert plötzlich, was aus ihm geworden ist. Doch lange kann er nicht darüber nachdenken, denn er wird von einem alten Bekannten aus der Anfangszeit in Atlanta überrascht: Morales ist wieder da, nun bei den Saviours und hat diese bereits über Ricks Eindringen informiert.

Mit dem Cliffhanger einer gespannten Pistole beginnt das Warten auf die nächste Folge. Fällt Ricks ausgeklügelter Plan jetzt schon wie ein Kartenhaus ineinander? Wie reagieren die Saviours? War der schleimige Zombie mehr als nur eine Randnotiz? Und werden wir mehr von Jerry und seiner Axt sehen?
