The Bride of Frankenstein officially follows The Mummy as the next instalment in Universals new Dark Universe franchise  a shared universe of films resurrecting creatures from the old Universal monster movies. We also already know well get an Invisible Man film starring Johnny Depp. You might well have heard talk of other films in the works.Now the creative mind behind the Dark Universe, and director and producer of The Mummy, Alex Kurtzman, has exclusively revealed to FANDOM that well get Phantom of the Opera and The Hunchback of Notre Dame among other titles added to the roster.We know were going to do Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Invisible Man, he says.He also reveals plans to explore beyond the boundaries of the existing Universal monster properties: There are characters within those films that can grow and expand and maybe even spin off. I think that digging into deep mythologies about monsters around the world is fair game for us, as well and connecting the monsters that we know to some surprising monsters could also be really interesting.The Mummy opens up some intriguing possibilities  embedding Russell Crowes Dr. Jekyll into the world and his mysterious organization Prodigium as well as leaving us questioning where Tom Cruises character Nick Morton may be heading.The Dark Universe is an ambitious project in its infancy and casting rumours are already beginning to swirl around the franchise. There has been talk, for instance, that Angelina Jolie may pick up the Bride of Frankenstein role. Kurtzman does nothing to dismiss this when asked who hed like to bring into the Dark Universe.Id love to bring Michael Fassbender in, Id love to bring Jennifer Lawrence in, Id love to see Charlize Theron in there, Angelina Jolie he says.You can listen to the interview in the video above.The Mummy hits screens on June 9.

And when a film deals in the undead, its highly likely that death isnt necessarily the end for any of the characters. FANDOM spoke to the director and cast of The Mummy and pumped them for information about whether their characters will return to fight another day.Hopefully youll see Toms character again, says The Mummy director and series creator Alex Kurtzman. And obviously Annabelles character Jenny is probably going off to find him, and well see what happens with Ahmanet.Actress Sofia Boutella who plays resurrected mummy Ahmanet teases: I dont think shell ever die really. Without revealing too much for those who have yet to see the film, something happens to Jenny that may or may not have fundamentally changed her.A Classic Transformation?I would like to delve a little deeper into her dark side, she says. Into, you know, this mystery about her that I think unravels a very exciting truth that well come to know. I just want to play with the idea that potentially she could become a classic monster. Or not.Jake Johnson, who plays Tom Cruises characters right-hand man, Chris Vail, is hopeful that his character will return  suggesting theres more to come from him.I hope the writers write me into the next adventure because this one was a lot of fun to make and I think theres more story to be told, he says.He elaborates on the transformation his character goes through in the movie, adding: Is my character supernatural at the end of this movie? The answer to that would be yes. You know, he gets killed and then gets a curse on him and comes back from the dead and he haunts Toms character. And then at the end, Toms character brings him back but takes away the Mummy, if you will  takes the Mummy out of him. So I dont think that just goes away. I think thats still in him but he appears to look a lot nicer.It certainly sounds like we'll see all of these characters again in the Dark Universe  whether that's in the next instalment, The Bride of Frankenstein, reWhen youre dealing with the supernatural, anythings possible. And when a film deals in the undead, its highly likely that death isnt necessarily the end for mains to be seen.The Mummy hits screens on June 9.
