Back in the ’90s, fans of multiplayer space combat were really spoiled for choice, but the genre has lost its way since then — now, Starfighter Inc. is poised to return this type of spacebound warfare to its former notoriety. Gamepedia and the game’s developer, Impeller Studios, are pleased to announce the Official Starfighter Inc. Wiki.

Starfighter Inc. is a free-to-play space combat simulator that’s set 200 years in the future. Players are cast as mercenary pilots fighting on behalf of megacorporations that are engaged in a shadow war over the control of our solar system — and in this murky vision of the future, there’s always some doubt as to who you’re really fighting for.

Pilots have plenty to consider when they’re deciding which contracts to pick up. Is it better to work with organizations that are fighting for the greater good of the solar system, or to simply concern yourself with seeking out the highest bidder? At the end of the day, these choices can only be made on a case-by-case basis.

Cleaning up the solar system may be a worthy goal, but bringing in credits is the only way to carry on upgrading your ship to ensure that it’s fit for the task at hand. The game has truly unparalleled customization, and you’ll have complete control of every element in your ship – from the cockpit layout to the powertrain.

Starfighter Inc. is being developed by a team with over 151 years of combined industry experience helmed by lead designer David Wessman (X-WingTIE Fighter series) and Jack Mamais (Mechwarrior 2 series). The project also involves Narrative Lead, Rusel DeMaria (The Farlander Papers & The Stele Chronicles). Fans interested in helping with the development of the project can currently vote for the game in the Alienware Games Showcase, a contest that benefits indie developers via prizes ranging from marketing support to hardware.
