Right in time for trick-or-treat season, Niantic is updating Pokemon GO with its first ever world event. Starting today, October 26th, the spirit of Halloween descends upon PoGo, which translates into pretty good rewards for doing the things you were probably going to do already.

This includes gaining double the amount of Candy every time you catch, hatch, or transfer a Pokemon to the professor. Also, if you’ve taken advantage of the Pokemon Buddies feature, you can earn Candy at four times the rate. Lastly, you’ll encounter some of the games “spookiest” Pokemon more frequently. Between the 26th and November 1st will be the perfect time to farm for Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Drowzee, Hypno, Zubat, and Golbat. But where should you be looking for them? We got you covered.

Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar

These three ghostly Pokemon are rather infamous in the Johto region of the Pokemon world. While Ghastlies are often content with just trying not to dissipate in strong breezes, as they evolve, they become more mischievous. Haunters love to put people to sleep and give them nightmares. Gengars will stalk people in the streets, pretending to be their shadow. What jerks!

When hunting for them out on the town, these Ghost-type Pokemon have been known to appear in urban and residential areas at night. This includes the early morning, as rumors swirl that dusk is prime time to catch one of these tricksters. Not a confirmed spawning area: cemeteries. Watch your back!

Drowzee and Hypno

So, these two appear more awkward than outright scary, but don’t let that trick you into thinking they’re not at least just as creepy as the ghosts. Not only can Drowzee and Hypno induce sleep at will, but both of these mind-bending anteaters love to feast on your dreams. No, I don’t really know how something like that works, but I’m confident that it’s a bad thing.

In your town, Psychic-type Pokemon love suburban, residential areas at night. They also frequent grassy areas and can often be found around hospitals – doing something completely not creepy and weird, I’m sure.

Zubat and Golbat

What’s scarier than ghostly pranksters or sleepy tapirs? Bats. It may seem out of place compared to the other set of Halloween-inspired Pokemon, but Zubat and Golbat are pretty close analogs to the real deal rodent. Bats may not be scary intrinsically, but they sure get a bad reputation. Same goes for Zubats, which are blind and generally more afraid of people than the other way around. Golbat, on the other hand, is a full on vampire bat, soaring the night skies in hopes to find something living suck the blood out of.

Zubats are pretty common in Pokemon GO, but Golbats (and other more rare Poison-type Pokemon) can be trickier to track down. They’re commonly found near marshes and lakes, as well as industrial sections of town. Though I wouldn’t be too surprised if Zubats were just in your front lawn.
