In a universe packed with pirates, there’s always going to be fierce competition for the best loot. You might think that a diminutive pirate like Flinthook might not stand a chance against his rivals — but with his trusty Blasma Pistol in hand, there’s no buccaneer or scoundrel that can stop him. Gamepedia and the game’s developer, Tribute Games, are pleased to announce the Official Flinthook Wiki.

You only need to take one look at Flinthook to understand that it’s a game that was made with particular attention to detail. Intricate pixel graphics bring the character and the world around him to life, calling to mind the very best examples of 2D platformers from yesteryear.

Of course, a game like this wouldn’t be much fun if it was beautiful to look at, but didn’t play well. Fortunately, that’s not the case — it may take players a little while to get to grips with the abilities that Flinthook has at his disposal, but once they’re proficient, the feeling of close control makes combat and platforming all the more satisfying.

Gameplay centers around two crucial pieces of equipment; the Blasma Pistol and the Chainhook. Flinthook is able to free-aim with a full 360-degree range of movement, allowing him to pick off enemies with his pistol or use the Chainhook to grapple around the environment. Combine these abilities with the Chrono-Belt — an artifact that allows the miniature marauder to slow down time — and combat can become very complex and dynamic indeed.

Players are challenged to master these abilities across randomly-assembled levels, constantly keeping them guessing as to the platforming obstacles and groups of enemies that they’ll encounter. The only way to ensure success is to become attuned with the game’s underlying mechanics, and grab as much loot as possible to make the quest a little easier.
