Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

The iconic Marvel vs Capcom series is making a grand return in 2017 and wishes to take all of us on a ride with Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. Things are different this time around, as the game moves into a two versus two gameplay formula and replaces assist attacks with the Marvel universe’s all-mighty Infinity Stones.

The roster for Marvel vs Capcom 3 had a definite eye for the future in regards to the Marvel side of things. Characters such as Doctor Strange, Rocket Raccoon, Iron Fist, and Hawkeye all become staples of Marvel’s mainstream marketing strategy, giving credence to the idea that Disney has some long-term vision when it comes to character inclusions.

With that in mind, and with as little fan-boy theorizing as possible, here are our 8 requested characters for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite

1. Guts Man – Mega Man

Since Mega Man X is confirmed for the final roster, there’s a need for representation of the classic side of the Blue Bomber’s legacy. The rock-hurling Guts Man has a classic design that’s large and colorful – the trademarks of early Mega Man robot master designs.

This beefy brute could serve as a high-defense character, using Super Armor attacks to break through walls of enemy projectiles and bring foes back down to earth the hard way. If classic Mega Man can’t make the roster, then Guts Man is the next best thing.

2. Man-Thing and Howard the Duck – Adventures Into Fear

What, you’ve never seen an anthropomorphic duck and a walking pile of pond scum before? The duo date back to Marvel’s 1970s horror series Adventure Into Fear and, according to recent team-ups, appear to be decent enough friends.

While Man-Thing would handle the heavy lifting, Howard has potential as a thrown projectile, staying on screen and causing havoc akin to Jill Valentine’s zombie assist in Marvel vs Capcom 2

B.B. Hood

3. B.B. Hood – Darkstalkers 3

The Darkstalkers franchise has a long history of interesting female characters, with B.B. Hood standing out as one of my favorites. Sure, everyone likes to glow over how awesome Morrigan is, but does she have a machine gun and bazooka?

My point, exactly.

Darkstalkers as a series deserves more love, and I’d enjoy nothing more than for Capcom to bring this wonderful, twisted

character back into the spotlight.

Kingpin Daredevil

4. The Kingpin – Daredevil

Wilson Fisk represents something unique in the Marvel universe: A self-made man with zero powers, crushing his foes through the power of influence whenever possible, but not being afraid to dirty his trademark white suit. The popularity of the Daredevil TV series on Netflix has brought Kingpin back to the public forefront, and I can think of no better way to honor the character than his inclusion in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

A versatile fighter whose quickness, durability, and strength is shocking to foes, Fisk is a perfect foil for the likes of Ryu and Captain America. Add special attacks where mob goons arrive on the scene with an assist, and you have the makings of a memorable addition to the roster.

5. Sodom – Final Fight /Street Fighter Alpha

The Japanophile warrior just missed the roster cut for Street Fighter 5, and it would be a shame if the bulky bruiser didn’t get an invite for MvCI. First debuting in the arcade beat-em-up Final Fight, then later appearing as a playable fighter in the Street Fighter Alpha series, Sodom is a bull in a china shop with a unique look.

I want the Capcom side of the roster to have a few deep cuts, and while Sodom isn’t beloved like Sakura or Dan, he provides an interesting look and represents the Alpha series with pride.

Lady Thor

 6. Female Thor

This seems like an obvious pick, but the newly crowned Goddess of Thunder is a superior design to OG Thor and would serve to diversify the standing female roster choices. In order to differentiate her style from Thor in Marvel vs Capcom 3, I’d like to see her attacks focus on brawling, with less full screen projectiles than before.

I’d also like to see my dream fulfilled of a super attack where Thor just hands the hammer Mjölnir to her opponent, causing them to crash to the floor and become stuck under its mighty force.

Natsu Ayuhara

 7. Natsu Ayuhara – Rival Schools: United By Fate

Many of you might be wondering why I’ve placed a character from the anime Azumanga Daioh on this list, but Natsu is actually the striker extraordinaire from the underappreciated Rival Schools fighting game series.

Her moveset revolves around speedy volleyball strikes and serves, along with powerful air-to-air spiking attacks. I know Sakura is a popular choice for these games, but her friend from Justice High is a more intriguing choice that would stand out among the crowd.

Red Hulk

8. Red Hulk

While mostly forgotten about in the Marvel Comics shift since last year’s Secret Wars event, Rulk is a compelling choice that’s more than just a Hulk of a different color. The Crimson Colossus has a powerset based around absorbing energy and turning that power back around on enemies.

With those skills in mind, Red Hulk should begin the fight as his human counter-part Thunderbolt Ross, triggering a transformation into his larger self once his team takes enough damage. Once that happens, everyone is advised to stand back and clear the area. Wherever Red Hulk goes is considered a blast zone.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is set to release in 2017 for PS4, XBox One, and Windows.
