Dauntless, the co-op, monster-hunting action-RPG currently in open beta from Phoenix Labs, just received its latest update with the The Coming Storm. With a new Behemoth to slay and new weapons to acquire, there has never been a better time to check out the game. Here’s some of the new content you’ll be able to sink your teeth into.

Koshai, The Sovereign of Thorns

This fearsome predator is said to be “alive” with vines that can crack the hull of a ship and thorns capable of shredding the thickest armor.

Of course, slayers who can bring down the Koshai will be able to use use its power to forge equally formidable weapons and armor. Speaking of weapons…

The Ostian Repeaters

The Coming Storm introduces the Ostian Repeaters into the fold — the first ranged-focused weapon in Dauntless. Slayers will be able to customize these dual hand cannons to suit their needs, though acquiring the materials needed to create these deadly ranged weapons will be a challenge in and of itself.

Grenades

Even if the Ostian Repeaters aren’t your style, the update will also be adding grenades for slayers to take for a spin. With five different grenade types that each have special effects (barrage, inferno, concussive, coldsnap, and transfusion), slayers will now have even more tactical options for taking down Behemoths. Explode, burn, stun, freeze, and leech life from your prey.

These are just a few of the new features coming to the game, alongside new storylines, environments, characters and more. And Dauntless will only continue to grow, as this is just part of The Coming Storm update. Rather than waiting and rolling out the entirety of the update all at once (which would in much longer periods of time between updates), Phoenix labs has opted to roll out content as soon as it’s ready. That means even more The Coming Storm content is on the way soon. You can download and play the Dauntless open beta here, and be sure to check out the Official Dauntless Wiki for all your behemoth-slaying needs.
