Ever see a wiki on Gamepedia and wanted to do more than just add a sentence in here or a picture there? Now you can! In order to better partner with the community, we have just launched the new Claim-A-Wiki feature, which allows community members to become admins of the very wikis they cherish.

On the left hand navigation bar, you’ll now see a button saying “Claim this wiki!” Those without buttons are already claimed and administered. If your favorite wiki does have this button, however, and you wish to be a guardian for that wiki, all you need to do is to fill out a simple form!

Before you begin, make sure that you are signed in on your Curse account! Otherwise, we won’t know is trying to claim the wiki and we can’t continue. Sign in and tell us a little about yourself, why you want to be a guardian for your selected wiki and how much you will rock it!

We give you a lot of room to fill in what is awesome about you, what your past wiki experience is and how great you’ll be as an administer on your chosen wiki. Use that space to your advantage! Please also know that being accepted on your claim comes with a few rules and guidelines, because if your claim is accepted, you have a community to support!

If accepted as a wiki guardian, you agree to the following:

  1. Use the administrative tools made available to you with care and judgement, especially the ability to delete pges and block users and IP addresses.
  2. Work to build better content and community on your wiki.
  3. Never use these tools in an abusive manner, for instance, to punish a user that you have a personal disagreement with.
  4. Lead by example and to behave in a respectful, civil manner in your interactions with others.
  5. Never share your password or account with anyone else, for any reason. If your password has been compromised, or if your account has been otherwise compromised (even by an editor or individual you trust), you will change your password immediately, or report it to wiki staff immediately.

Once you have your application complete and you’ve accepted the rules, you’re all set! Gamepedia staff will review what you’ve sent in and will respond to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, have a look at the new Gamepedia Help Wiki for some ideas on how you can make your wiki an amazing community asset! Gamepedia staff and community members are always available in IRC channels for assistance as well. Find us at #Gamepedia!
