It is time, once again, for us to take a look at the expansive world of the upcoming MMORPG Skyforge. Today we’re taking a look at a brand new area in the game, the Lanber Forest. This serene and secluded part of Aelion is home to a lush forest and the small village of Kyris. But all is not as it seems in this seemingly quiet region, as long-forgotten forces are at work to take this area for themselves…
One of the most picturesque locations in all of Aelion, the Lanber Forest is a seemingly tranquil corner of the world located far from the unending frenzy of the Capital City. But behind the visage of lush forests and serene farmlands masks a lurking evil. The farms are quiet, and the once bustling town of Kyris now stands empty, devoid of any signs of life. The immortal warriors who defend this world are not fooled by this false illusion, and prepare themselves for the oncoming storm.
At the Divine Observatory in the heart of the Capital, the Aelion projection flashes with cries for help from the Lanber Lands. Their pleas carry news of the return of the Mandite Army, an evil thought vanquished by the heroes of a past age. The Mantide have been awakened, and now seek to spread across the world, controlling the weak and crushing those who oppose them.
War is all but certain, and where some see conflict others see opportunity. The Lanber Forest now swarms with smugglers, assassins, looters, and others who see the chance to cash in on the strife of others. For now, they are tolerated by the Mantide presence, acting as little more than a nuisance as they serve to keep the locals living in fear.
But what could cause the Mantide to re-emerge after an age of peace? Hungry for power, the god Nerion turned his back on the people he was once sworn to protect, forming an alliance with the Mantide, who have promised him all the power and strength he can imagine. Nerion has condemned his followers to fate at the hands of the Mantide. The lucky are met with horrific deaths, while the truly forsaken face agonizing subjugation at the hands of their new masters.
The Defenders of Aelion have sent legions of brave warriors to the Lanber Forest, but it has not been enough. The vanguard need your help to stop the treacherous god and save the people of Lanber Forest by providing food and safety, fending off the opportunistic raiders, and shield them from the perils of war.
…sounds pretty epic, doesn’t it? That is just a small taste of the great breadth of story-driven content that you’ll find in Skyforge. The Lanber Forest is just the latest region of the game to be publicly unveiled, though it only represents a portion of the large, open world of Aelion.
