Robots are cool. Robots outfitted with a copious amount of firepower and given the green light to scrap other robots? Even cooler. That’s the gist behind Masthead Studios‘ matter-of-factly named team-based free-to-play shooter, Guns and Robots. Few games give you the level of character customization that Guns and Robots does, giving you the tools to construct your very own machine of destruction that you can then take online to challenge against other players. But the best part? You can download it right now from Steam.

Now, between customizing your robot and pitting it against other death machines, there is an incredible amount of stuff to do in the game. If you don’t believe me, take a minute to check out the Official Guns and Robots Wiki to see just how expansive your options are. But that’s just the start of it – Masthead Studios has a lot planned for their robotic combat moving forward…

Now that Guns and Robots is entering its “second season” on Steam, the developers at Masthead Studios are priming a number of big content updates that will introduce several new features to the game. The big addition is a new game mode called Territory; an objective-based team deathmatch in which teams will fight for control of different marked sections of sprawling open world arenas. To help support this game type, as well as the others in the game (and the ones coming), Guns and Robots will also see four new maps become available in the not-too-distant future.

Some of the other features Masthead Studios is also planning to introduce include complete localization in several different languages, as well as two additional game modes: “Robot Race,” which is exactly what it sounds like, and “Free For All,” an everybody-vs-everybody battle royal until only one rises above the scrap pile left in their wake. The developers are even planning on hosting several in-game tournaments, each one offering awesome prizes to the winners.

These are some of the big ticket items coming to the game in the coming months, but they’re far from the only things. Players can look forward to new guild features, in-game events, and a consistent cycle of content updates to keep you engaged. Are you feeling up to building your own robotic creation? Log on to Steam and download the game, and be sure to check out the Guns and Robots Wiki for more info!
