Firefall. It’s a game that’s been on gamers radars for a very, very long time. First announced by Red 5 Studios in 2010, the game has seen a number of major changes in its lifetime, and at long last the game saw its Steam release on July 29th, 2014! If you’ve not checked in on the game in a while, you may be surprised by just how different the experience is, and how the game has evolved. Not to worry, though – keep on reading and we’ll give you a breakdown of some of the things that are waiting for you.

One of the first things you’ll notice about Firefall is the amount of stuff there is to do. Since the game went into open beta in the summer of 2013, the game has seen its total content triple. This is in no small part due to the fact that there are two brand new continents in the game; the volcanic Devil’s Tusk, and the desert land of Sertao. With these new continents also comes a new range of dynamic events as well; Chosen (the bad guys) will try to take over settlements, thumpers will be called down, monsters will borrow up from beneath the earth, crashed motorcycles will appear on your map, and so much more.

The variety and breadth of content in Firefall will keep you busy as you level up the different battleframes at your disposal. There are sixteen in all, divided between five distinct classes: Assault, Dreadnaught, Biotech, Engineer, and Recon. Each class has their own unique play style, with each battleframe offering a different path. Not only does this impact how you play through the PvE content, but it also plays heavily into your role in the Open World PvP.

Oh, yeah. PvP is back. But rather than have instanced shooter modes, the PvP comes in the form of a faction-based war over the continent of Broken Peninsula. As players take control over different bases in the areas, they collect resources. Every fifteen minutes, all players in the area are notified that the resources are about to allocated. The end result? A mad scramble to be king of the mountain as players turn on each other to collect the resources gathered.

This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of new content and features in the game. Firefall has been almost completely revamped in the past year, creating a polished experience worth checking out.
