It goes without saying that DayZ is one of the most popular PC games being played today, with a passionate community that often streams their adventures in the post-apocalyptic world. Now, DayZ is, in itself, a modification for ARMA 2 that was ultimately released as a stand-alone client in 2013. Now that it’s its own game, a whole new wave of mods have been released. Two of the most popular mods for the game are Overwatch, which brings PvP combat to DayZ, and Epoch, which introduces base-building and trading systems.
Well, now they are one with the OverPoch mod for DayZ. We’re happy to announce that we’ve partnered together with Custom Combat Gaming to launch the official OverPoch Wiki.
“But I’ve never heard of OverPoch,” you say. Well, keep reading after the break and we’ll give you the rundown.
So, you may be thinking to yourself that OverPoch is just two mods for the price (space?) of one. Well, that’d be a misconception. OverPoch brings many additional changes to the game and brings new content that you wouldn’t find in either Overwatch or Epoch. This includes the addition of over 400 new weapons, 39 new vehicles, new areas, and new looting options – such as taking somebody’s clothes.
Hey, life after civilization is a hard one.
In addition to the 400+ weapons and nearly 40 vehicles (at time of publish), which include everything from Ford Crown Victoria police cruisers to Nissan 350Z sports cars, there are two new areas to explore. Fallujah, a massive desert environment that mirrors the Iraqi city and gives you access to humvees, military helicopters, and more spoils of a war from before the zombies came. NAPF is another large map that throws you into a region of Switzerland which, based on the map, is partially submerged underwater. I guess these things happen. Regardless, each region offers a lot of area to explore, and several key areas to build a base that is more or less impenetrable.
If you want to play OverPoch, you’re going to need to have DayZ. Once you have that, there are two ways to jump into OverPoch.
- 1.) CCG Launcher. Download and run this, and you’ll be able to download all of the available files you’ll need to run the mod.
- 2.) DayZ Commander. You can use DayZ Commander to download both the Overwatch and Epoch mods. Once you’ve done that, enter the following parameters:
-mod=@DayzOverwatch
Then connect to one of the OverPoch‘s IPs featured in their server list.
OverPoch is completely free and provides a ton of new content to a game that’s already hard to put down.
