The Vagante Wiki is Gigante!

There was a time when “Roguelike” games, titles like Rogue, Moria, Ragnarok and ToeJam & Earl, ruled the gaming sphere. Roguelikes took a bit of a backseat for a while, but with the rise of indie games we’ve seen a resurgence of the Roguelike in a very big way. We’ve seen roguelike elements find their way into RPGs and FPS games, and with Vagante we can now add another genre to the mix: platformers.

Yes, we are excited to announce that we’ve partnered with Nuke Nine, the makers of the upcoming Vagante, to launch the Official Vagante Wiki! This is where you’ll be able to find all of the information you could ever want about the game, while perhaps learning a thing or two that you may not have known already.

Vagante, from developers Nuke Nine, wants to take the most memorable aspects of a great roguelike and place them in an action-based platforming adventure game. What all does that include? Well, for starters that means that the game will feature procedurally-generated levels for you to explore and conquer.

“Awesome,” I hear you say. “What does that mean?” Well, in short it means that each and every level that you will ever play will be different, as each level will be built from the ground up and be (almost) completely random. Additionally, Vagante will be including the most devious of all elements of the roguelike: permanent death. Once you die, you’re dead. Your loot, your equipment, everything that you had before your untimely demise doesn’t magically carry over to the new character.

Pretty brutal, huh?

Luckily Nuke Nine makes it a bit easier on you, offering a pleathora of weapons, magic, and different powers to fend off the unknown enemies lurking within the caves.

“But why am I in these caves to begin with?”

…because you are a treasure hunter in search of treasure, and this mysterious cave promises unimaginable wonders if you and your friends (because the game is multiplayer) are brave enough to face the unknowable dangers that lurk within. Naturally.

Vagante is currently listed on Steam Greenlight, and also has a Kickstarter thats in its last few days. Nuke Nine has already stated that development on the game will continue, even if they don’t reach their goals for the Kickstarter campaign. However, many of the perks and benefits of supporting their Kickstarter will most likely disappear, so be sure to jump on that if you are in any way interested in what they’re doing.

“But I’m not sure I want to spend money on a game I can’t play!”

Totally understandable. Here: have a demo to whet your appetite.

Of course, if you want to learn even more about the game be sure to take a minute and peruse the Official Vagante Wiki to learn more about the game.

*I do not apologize for the title.
