At its core, Plunder Pirates is a multiplayer strategy game where you, as a dreaded pirate captain, build your own island fortress to protect your booty (heh, heh) from rival pirates – including other players! That’s not all you do, of course. You’re a pirate! You’ll sail uncharted waters in your search for mysterious new lands wrought with danger as you hunt for hidden treasures.
You won’t be embarking on this adventure alone. As your base grows, so will your loyal(ish – they’re pirates, after all) crew will also expand. You’ll be able to recruit a number of different pirates to join you on your adventures, each one offering something unique to the experience. Thiefs are skilled at swiping gold from rival pirates, while Bombers can ward off oncoming monsters with their powerful explosives.
You’ll also be able to upgrade your ship with with new sails and extra armaments. After all, if you’re taking to the ocean you don’t want to be caught off guard and underpowered. As you upgrade your ship you’ll notice a definite change in appearance. In time, your little schooner will transform into a mighty and feared galleon, ruling the waters with an unchallenged might!
Plunder Pirates is available, right now, free to download, on the Apple Store for iOS. What this means is that it will work with your iPhone and your iPad.
“But James,” I hear you say. “I do not own an iOS-supported device. What about us Android and/or Windows Phone owners?” A good question. Don’t fret – Plunder Pirates is currently slated for an early 2015 release on both Android and Windows Phone platforms.
