If you’re not yet aware, we’re kinda big on indie games here at Gamepedia. In fact, we tend to talk about them a lot – and with good reason. The games being created by indie developers continue to push the medium in exciting new directions, providing us with experiences that no other entertainment medium could dream of. So, as you can imagine, we’re pretty pumped for IndieCade.

If you’re not aware, IndieCade is a festival celebrating the art, design, and culture around independently-developed and produced games. There are workshops, panels, and other talks designed to help bring the indie scene together to better support each other’s games. One of the core element of helping any indie game push its way into the spotlight is by cultivating a dedicated and passionate community. With our experience doing that through the Gamepedia wiki network, we feel like we can contribute towards helping these independent developers do just that.

In fact, that’s what we’re talking about at IndieCade.

Gamepedia Overlord (and my boss, so I probably shouldn’t call him an “Overlord”…), Benjamin Tarsa, along with Kris Sandoval, will be talking at IndieCade’s GameU on how to not only market your game, but also how to build that ever-important community.

But none of this would matter without the games. After all, it’s the games that bring everybody together in the first place, and there is no shortage of those at IndieCade.

This year, dozens upon dozens of games are being featured. Some of them, like BroForce, TowerFall, and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, you might have heard of. Others, such as the 1950s detective yarn Private Eye, and the celestial Gemini, are up for IndieCade Award consideration. They’re only two of three-dozen games that are up for such distinction, and you can play ’em all – for free – throughout the weekend.

If you happen to be there, of course.

IndieCade technically starts today, but unless you’re a developer you won’t be getting in, and if you are a developer you’re already there. So don’t even worry about today. IndieCade for the rest of us opens tomorrow, October 10th, at 9:30am local time and runs through the weekend, concluding at 6pm on Sunday, October 12th.

You can head over to IndieCade’s website to learn more about the event, the speakers, and the games on display. Oh, and be sure to check back here after the fact – we may have a thing or two to talk about.
