5 Comic Book Characters Who Should Be in the Arrowverse

Since the beginning of the Arrowverse, The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow have all done a great job of introducing characters from the comics. However, even with all of the characters that the Arrowverse has introduced thus far, some are still missing. Here are five characters that we’d love to see the Arrowverse add to its roster.

Bart Allen

Bart Allen is the grandson of Barry Allen.

The Season 4 finale of The Flash revealed the identity of the “mystery girl” that members of Team Flash have been encountering all season. As many fans have speculated, the mystery girl is Nora, Barry’s daughter from the future. With the introduction of Nora, it’s only a matter of time before The Flash adds another time-traveling speedster: Bart Allen.

In the comics, Bart Allen is Barry’s grandson from the 30th century who returns to the past to become part of his family’s legacy. Perhaps Nora’s “big, big mistake” affects not only the past but also the future, which would prompt Bart to travel back to his grandfather’s time and help undo whatever mistake Nora made. It would be interesting to see how Barry handles the arrival of not only his daughter but his grandson as well.

If Nora’s reveal at the end of the fourth season is any indication, then it seems like part of Season 5 will focus on family, which would be a perfect time to bring Bart into the fold.

Booster Gold

Booster Gold would make an excellent addition to the Legends.

Born in the 25th century, Booster Gold gets a job as a security officer for the Metropolis Space Museum. While working there, he sees monuments to superheroes from the 20th Century and is inspired to become a superhero himself. He steals artifacts from the museum and travels back to the 20th century to begin his career as a superhero.

In the comics, Booster Gold uses Rip Hunter‘s time machine to travel to the 20th century. Perhaps on the show, the self-made superhero could meet the Legends and they discover his relationship with Hunter. Seeing that he wants to prove himself as a hero, the Legends could offer him a spot on their team. Booster Gold isn’t a particularly respected hero in the comics, which makes him a perfect candidate for the misfit team.

Lex Luthor

How would Lex Luthor interact with Supergirl?

Supergirl has introduced us to both Lena and Lillian Luthor but has yet to introduce the most infamous Luthor of all: Lex. In past episodes of Supergirl, Lex Luthor has been name-dropped and has also appeared during a flashback, so it’s possible he could make an appearance on the show. He would make an excellent villain in a future season.

If he were to appear on Supergirl, we would love to see him team up with Lillian in an attempt to go after Lena. Given that he is one of Superman’s most notorious adversaries, it would be interesting to see him go up against Supergirl. Perhaps the next season of Supergirl could see Lex break out of prison, with Supergirl tasked with finding him and bringing him back in.

Green Lantern

How would the Green Lantern's light affect the Arrowverse?

There are many Green Lantern references in the Arrowverse, specifically the Hal Jordan incarnation of the superhero. In the Season 4 premiere of Arrow, we see a billboard advertising Coast City as a vacation spot. Not only is Coast City where Hal Jordan lives, but the billboard also parodies the Green Lantern Corps version of the Green Lantern Oath.

Coast City's billboard is a humorous take on the oath of the Green Lantern Corps.

This reference, as well as others, give us hope that Hal Jordan will appear in the Arrowverse at some point. In the comics, Hal Jordan is one of Barry Allen’s best friends, so it would be interesting to see that dynamic play out on screen. Perhaps Hal could show up in a future Arrowverse crossover to help our heroes with a new threat. In any case, we would love to see Hal appear in the Arrowverse sooner rather than later.

Batman

What would happen if the Caped Crusader showed up on 'Arrow'?

There are several references to Batman sprinkled throughout all four of the Arrowverse shows. Perhaps the most prominent reference to the Dark Knight happened when Oliver Queen name-drops Bruce Wayne at a press conference when someone asks if he is the Green Arrow. Although we know that Bruce Wayne is part of the Arrowverse, we still have yet to see Batman in the flesh.

Some say that Batman shouldn’t appear in the Arrowverse because he and the Green Arrow are too similar, but that is why he should make an appearance. Both Batman and the Green Arrow prefer to do things their way and don’t like anyone interfering with their methods. The similarities between the two vigilantes would likely cause conflict between them.

Perhaps a future episode of Arrow could see Batman following one of his villains to Star City. The Green Arrow may notice the threat that the villain poses to the city, and decides to go after him as well, inevitably crossing paths with Batman. Like Superman on Supergirl, Batman only needs a limited role in a future season. By having Batman appear briefly in one or two episodes, it would satisfy our desire to see the Dark Knight in the Arrowverse, and it wouldn’t take the spotlight away from the show.
