…yeah, you thought I was going to say “Kingdom Come Comes,” didn’t you. Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the open-world role-playing game from Warhorse Studios that was successfully Kickstarted back in February, has officially entered into Alpha and is available as part of Steam’s Early Access! There is a lot to be excited about in this upcoming RPG – keep reading after the break to learn more.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance places you in the Kingdom of Bohemia, in the far-off lands of… oh. Okay, the Kingdom of Bohemia was an actual thing; an empire that lasted from the 12th Century until the outbreak of World War I which once claimed land in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, and Ukraine. You are Henry, the son of a blacksmith who has witnessed his family slain by an invading Army. By 1403, with the kingdom already in chaos, you set out to avenge your family and restore order to the kingdom you call home.

At its core, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a classic role-playing game that lets you take on many of the classic archetypes of the genre: warrior, bard, thief, knight, etc. Your attributes are impacted by the way you play the game, and skills you find yourself using will level up more frequently than those skills which you rarely call on. Your stats can also improve based on the way you handle the game’s many dialogue opportunities – the answers you give will help determine who you are, and how the world reacts to you. Some skills can also be improved by taking part in minigames based around the activity or skill in question. For instance, if you want to become better at lockpicks, you’ll be picking a lot of locks.

The team at Warhorse Studios wanted to create a living, breathing world in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Each dungeon you encounter in the game will be meticulously crafted, and no two areas will feel similar. Furthermore, towns will react dynamically to your actions. If you break the law, they will notify the authorities, and as your reputation spreads the citizenry will either cower from you in fear or cheer your steel resolve.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance has just entered its alpha stage, and players who contributed to their fundraising campaign will be able to jump into the game and test the core mechanics.
