XING:The Land Beyond

XING: The Land Beyond is a first person puzzle adventure game for the PC and Oculus Rift, and it features environmental-based puzzles similar to the Zelda series and surroundings reminiscent of Myst. Developed by White Lotus Interactive, the game had a phenomenal Kickstarter campaign in 2013, generating over $30,000 from 871 backers. With the game set to release on Steam this winter, we’re excited to present the Official XING: The Land Beyond Wiki, the ultimate source for game-related information and tips.

In the game, you begin your journey as a mysterious dead being with no memories of who you are or where you’re from. In this strange afterlife, you have the power to alter the weather, change the time of day, and explore your environment freely. To progress, you’ll have to observe your surroundings and use your wits to solve environmental-based puzzles that reveal the secrets of your past. There is no dialog in XING: The Land Beyond; you’ll gather all your information through visuals and elegant poetry. You’ll explore mountains, caverns, volcanoes, and other serene landscapes, all aligned wonderfully to a tranquil, original score. The game is completely immersive, and players can progress at their own pace through this dynamic, extraordinary world.

The environment around you is beautifully-designed, with many of the scenes drawing from various mythologies and time periods. For instance, the game’s Rainforest area is heavily inspired by Aztec and Mayan cultures. In these environments, everything has an aesthetic or gameplay-oriented purpose. The game’s starting area, Zenith, has an ethereal, sci-fi style that is carried throughout various objects within the game, creating an interesting juxtaposition against these varied environments. To discover more about the game’s environments, view the official trailer below.
