Portal Knights is a crazy amalgam of a game. It offers the creative freedom of sandbox games like Minecraft or Roblox but also incorporates action-RPG elements such as character classes and tactical hack-and-slash combat. With the Creator’s Update, newly launched for the PC version of the game, Portal Knights blows open the sandbox component by giving players unlimited resources to build the structures of their dreams.
Here are six of the most impressive creations that have already been built by the Portal Knights community.
The Real-Life Replica
This player decided to go the historical route, creating a pixelated facsimile of the Todai-ji Temple located in Nara, Japan. The real-life temple is the largest wooden building in the world and houses the largest bronze Buddha statue. Paired with some pleasant topiary and a golden sunset, this digital version makes for quite the picturesque setting.
The Fantastical Fantasy
User Forever Young also tackled historical Japanese imagery, but they used it to craft a temple complex of their own imagination. The character in the photo looks stoked to check out the grounds. As well they should be — there are tons of nooks and crannies to explore.
Islands in the Sky
User Charles McNoogles decided to let their imagination run wild, creating a series of floating islands ringed by massive, impossibly tall walls. Good luck trying to storm the town held within it.
The Tranquil Escape
User Gr8 Wyte also created something entirely from their imagination, but they opted for a more realistic approach. The result is a small forest town filled with small houses and crystal-clear ponds — the perfect place for relaxing and enjoying a double rainbow.
The Bling Room
This creator chose to focus on interior set dressing with this impressively blinged-out throne room. The stained glass effect from the lights on the ceiling is particularly noteworthy.
The Playground
This user decided to focus less on the grandeur of the building and more on what you can actually do in it. What they came up with is a satisfying reproduction of a soccer pitch, complete with goal targets at either end. Just make sure you don’t kick the ball over the wall — you probably won’t be getting it back.
