The PlayStation VR launched just in time for the holiday season. There’s no doubt the new virtual reality system will be a popular gift this year. If you do happen to receive your very own PSVR (or if you splurge and buy yourself one), the first thing you’re going to want to do is to try out some of the awesome VR games available for the system.

Much like a person trying on a VR headset for the first time, you may need a little help getting your bearings. To help steer you in the right direction, we’ve assembled a list of the best PlayStation VR games currently available. This list only focuses on full VR games. We haven’t included many of the VR “experiences” such as short films or the add-ons that come with other games. These are all full-fledged games that include several hours of gameplay.

This is an ever-evolving list. We plan on adding to it as more PlayStation VR games become available. Eventually, some of the titles below will be bumped out of the rotation in favor of superior games. In the meantime, here are the best PSVR games currently available:

Rez Infinite

Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s rhythm shooter masterpiece returns after 15 years. Rez Infinite promises to win over an entirely new audience and wow fans of the original with all-new visuals and an exclusive VR mode. Through the use of VR, it seems Mizuguchi has finally realized his original vision of creating a truly immersive music experience that lets you “feel” the music.

Eagle Flight

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to fly, and dreamed of the day when VR could make that dream a (virtual) reality, then Ubisoft’s Eagle Flight should be high on your list of PSVR games to check out. In the game, you play as an eagle soaring high above the streets of an abandoned Paris bereft of human inhabitants. You get to experience firsthand the exhilaration of flight as you dart in and out of buildings overrun with nature.

In addition to a wealth of single-player challenges, the game also features multiplayer aerial dog fights between up to six players. Oh, and if you have heard horror stories about VR motion sickness, worry not. Through a series of graphical and camera tricks, the developers at Ubisoft Montreal have found a way to let almost anyone experience the sensation of flying without fear of getting airsick.

Thumper

The second music game on our list of the best PlayStation VR games also allows you to feel the music. Although this time the music feels more like stress and anxiety. When the developers of Thumper call it a “rhythm violence game,” they aren’t exaggerating. The game’s pulsating, bombastic soundtrack and high-speed gameplay create an experience that is so overwhelming it is stifling at times. There’s no other game — VR or otherwise — like Thumper, and it’s well worth your time.

Headmaster

Take equal parts Portal, Thomas Was Alone, and The Stanley Parable, and mix those all together with a healthy dose of FIFA, and you’ll have an idea what Headmaster is like. The premise is simple: Use your head to hit soccer balls into the goal. If that were all there was to it, Headmaster would be nothing more than a simplistic VR tech demo. What makes the game truly special is the whip-smart writing coupled with a myriad of ways to keep you guessing by constantly changing up the formula and upping the challenge factor as you progress.

EVE: Valkyrie

EVE: Valkyrie may have the biggest initial “wow” factor when you first try it out. The game places you in the cockpit of a fighter in the middle of an epic space battle. For fans of Star Wars or Battlestar Galactica, it’s a dream come true.

EVE Valkyrie includes a variety of ships to try out and upgrade, and multiple single and multiplayer modes. It takes place in the expansive EVE universe, but don’t worry about feeling behind on the story. All you need to know to enjoy EVE: Valkyrie is “fly, aim, shoot.”

Battlezone

Battlezone is an update of an arcade classic that seamlessly blends old-school cool with cutting-edge VR tech. This fast-paced tank shooter looks like a scene straight out of Tronwith stylized, polygonal tanks and enemies, and neon bursting at the seams. It’s not all about style, though. Once you get past the initial wow factor, there is a lot of game there. Battlezone‘s roguelike level design and co-op ensure there’s plenty of fun to be had for multiple playthroughs.
