Room actress Brie Larson has been cast as Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film of the same name. Reports of Larson’s casting surfaced in June, but Marvel waited until their anticipated Comic-Con panel for the big reveal.

Larson’s name began to be linked to the project after her Best Actress Oscar win for Room, which made her one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood.  This is Larson’s second comic book movie — she previously played Envy Adams in Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Larson took to Twitter after the panel to share a celebratory tweet:

Carol Danvers is likely to be introduced in Avengers: Infinity War before headlining her own solo movie — the first female-led movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — which is due out in 2018. Marvel also unveiled the movie’s new logo below.
