Neil Gaiman has Tweeted the first picture from Good Omens, the TV adaptation of the cult novel that he wrote with Terry Pratchett in 1990. The still features stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant.

Sheen’s Aziraphale is a fussy angel and rare book dealer, while Tennant’s Crowley is his opposite number, a fast-living demon. The pair have lived amongst Earth’s mortals since ‘The Beginning’ and have grown rather fond of each other and the lifestyle. So they aren’t best pleased when Heaven and Hell decide that the world will end on Saturday.

One Hell of a Double Act

Commenting on the start of principal photography, Gaiman — who is also serving as writer and showrunner — said, “People have fallen in love with an angel and a demon in a book by Terry Pratchett and me, and they have been excited and nervous to see how they would appear on screen — and I was probably the most nervous and excited of all.

“This is a first look. Michael Sheen is the best and finest of bookseller angels, David Tennant the coolest and most delightful of demons. Together they are one hell of a double act (or do I mean one made in HEAven?).”

The cast also features Jack Whitehall (Newt), Michael McKean (Shadwell) and Miranda Richardson (Madame Tracy).

Good Omens will spend the next six months shooting in London, Oxfordshire and South Africa, and will launch globally as a six-part series on Amazon in 2019.
