John Wick: Chapter 4 blew up at the box office this past weekend, raking in the best opening for the franchise so far with $146 million worldwide. Baba Yaga’s warpath of grief, which began with a dead wife (and a murdered puppy), brought him into the crosshairs of The High Table, culminating with a deadly duel at dawn for his freedom.

Fans flocked to theaters to see Keanu Reeves shoot, stab, and chop his way through legions of assassins, for what could be the final core Wick flick – though there’s still the spinoff movie, Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, headed our way along with The Continental prequel series on Peacock. Of course, the film’s massive haul may have a say in whether this is truly the end of the road for the world o’ Wick.

Fans also flocked to Fandom’s John Wick Wiki — AKA, of course, The John Wicki — making it the number four trending movie/TV Wiki on the site. Its surge was almost double what it was for 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, growing 138% over the weekend.

High on the High Table

Looking at the Top 10 most-searched pages on the The John Wicki and you’ll find, like the films say, everything under the Table…

  1. The High Table
  2. John Wick
  3. The Elder
  4. Marquis Vincent de Gramont
  5. The Adjudicator
  6. Caine
  7. Winston
  8. Continental Hotel
  9. The Director
  10. Chidi

Readers wanted to learn all they could about The High Table, which even after four films, is still shrouded in mystery. We’ve only met a few members of it to date – like the D’Antonio family in John Wick: Chapter 2 and the Marquis Vincent de Gramont in the new film – but we’ve never seen the 12 members together, convening in any way. And we’re still not exactly sure how The Elder presides over all of them.

(L-R) Donnie Yen as Caine, Bill Skarsgård as the Marquis Vincent de Gramont, and Marko Zaror portrays Chidi in John Wick: Chapter 4

So, again, in this criminal world full of rules and edicts, there are still elements of the bureaucracy we yearn to learn about. Parabellum introduced the role of the Table’s “Adjudicator” while Chapter 4 brought us Clancy Brown as a “Harbinger.” A John Wick: Chapter 5 could give us more answers, of course, but so could the spinoffs on the near horizon.

Missing in Action

You’ll notice too, that two of the Top 10 are big characters from Parabellum who weren’t a part of this new film – The Adjudicator and The Director.

Fans, wanting to play catch up before Chapter 4 most likely wanted to read all about characters from the previous film but it should be noted that Anjelica Huston’s Director will be a part of Ballerina, along with Keanu Reeves returning as John Wick, Ian McShane’s Winston and the late Lance Reddick’s Charon, in a film that takes place between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.

Asia Kate Dillon as The Adjudicator in John Wick: Chapter 3

It’s not known at this time if Asia Kate Dillon’s Adjudicator will be in Ballerina, or is set to return at all in the Wick-verse. It’d be a shame if not, since The Adjudicator was a cool new character, a big part of Parabellum, and, you know, possibly due for a comeuppance of sorts.

New Killers Just Dropped

John Wick and Winston being a part of the Top 10 pages is expected, as are some of the new faces introduced to us in Chapter 4 – namely Bill Skarsgard’s Marquis Vincent de Gramont, Donnie Yen’s blind swordsman Caine, and the Marquis’ very hard-to-kill henchman, Chidi (played by Chilean martial artist Marko Zaror).

It is a bit surprising though that Shamier Anderson’s Tracker, AKA Mr. Nobody, didn’t crack the Top 20 — he was just outside, at #21 — given how big a role he played in Chapter 4, and how little we know about his backstory (how he knows so much about pretty much everyone else, how he got his dog, etc). It could possibly be because he’s listed as “Tracker” and those searching Mr. Nobody wouldn’t find him as quickly. Pick a name, man!

Shamier Anderson as Tracker / Mr. Nobody in John Wick: Chapter 4

In fact, the second half of the Top 20 featured a big run of established characters, some of whom are in Chapter 4 (Charon and The Bowery King at 13 and 14), some of whom are not (Mark DacascosZero at 11,  Halle Berry‘s Sofia at 19), even as several brand new faces like The Harbinger (at 18), Hiroyuki Sanada‘s Shimazu (at 17) and Scott AdkinsKilla (at 15) arrived in a big way too.

However, Mr. Nobody placing rather low and even Shimazu’s skilled daughter, Rina Sawayama’s Akira, not even making the Top 25 suggest that Fandom readers were mostly cramming up on the old characters and lore before seeing Chapter 4 rather than checking out the fresh faces.

Either way, via the impending spinoffs plus any potential new sequels, this story isn’t over yet!
