It’s the world exclusive we were hoping for. Life is Strange 2 has been shown off at Gamescom, and we’ve got our first look at it. Tom and Zac chat about the reveal in the above video and what it could mean for the future of the series.

This comes hot on the heels of the smaller, free, and wonderful The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, which saw nine-year old Chris Erikson escape to the worlds of his imagination while he and his father worked through some tough issues.

For those who haven’t seen the trailer:

Life is Strange 2 appears to follow two brothers on the run, seemingly from the law. Forced to camp in the forest, the older brother feels pressure to take care of them both.

Sean, age 17, will be travelling with his brother Daniel, age 9, to seek a better life in their family’s hometown in Mexico. They’ve got a long way to go from Seattle, and after an incident which left both their father and a police officer dead, they probably aren’t feeling too social.

Of particular ambiguity is whether or not this sequel will include actual powers. To date, the first Life is Strange series of episodes has been the only period when a supernatural ability has been canon. Since Max‘s ability to rewind time, the franchise has stayed away from these elements altering the story in an official way. The trailer doesn’t reveal anything supernatural, but the fact that this is a direct sequel could be meaningful.

We also know that Chris Erikson will make an appearance. In the long distance that Sean and Daniel will have to travel, they could be running into Chris anywhere. Are we excited? Yeah, you bet we’re excited.

Expect Life is Strange 2 to hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 27th.
