Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is arriving sooner than you probably think. Sure, it’s a 2017 release, but Jan. 24 is sneaking up on us, just like the new Resident Evil 7 monster. In today’s brand new footage of the game, we get our first real look at an honest to goodness monster — or should we say B.O.W.?

Lurking in Shadows

That video of the new Resident Evil 7 monster is so very brief. Not only that, but it’s incredibly dark. Who can even tell if this menace is a traditional Bio Organic Weapon or a ghost? Good thing we can pause the footage at the very moment, the monster is illuminated.

Ugh… It’s even grosser looking in the light. Up close, the new Resident Evil 7 monster looks like the rotting corpse you expect in a horror franchise like this one. Though a closer look at his head reveals some pretty nasty teeth at the center. That is some nightmare fuel right there.

Whatever this enemy turns out to be might give us a clue of where the Resident Evil series is going with this entry. Is this a new mystical type of foe? Or is this the more traditional type of science experiment gone wrong that we saw in previous Resident Evil games? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Tell Aunt Rhody

That new monster isn’t the only new Resident Evil 7 video. There’s also this extra-creepy one which somehow manages to tell us even less than the last.

“Aunt Rhody” is the tune being hummed in this unsettling clip, so could that be the name of this mysterious woman? Or is it all just a fake out for another terrifying jump scare?

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and PSVR on Jan. 24, 2017.
