SPOILER ALERT: Warning, this article contains spoilers from Season 7, Episode 7 of Game of Thrones, entitled “The Dragon and The Wolf.” Proceed at your own risk.
A lot just happened on the Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones. Theon Greyjoy grew a (new) pair, Bran Stark and Samwell Tarly exchanged some vital information, the Night King and his army busted through the Wall with Viserion‘s help, and Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen finally hooked up. But nothing was as satisfying as Sansa Stark and Arya Stark collaborating to kill a major character we’ve all wanted kicked off the Game of Thrones island for years now.
LITTLEFINGER IS DEAD, YA’LL! After a few episodes of Sansa and Arya seemingly at odds — and possibly making death threats against each other — “The Dragon and The Wolf” finally confirmed they were conspiring together against Petyr Baelish the entire time. In the greatest wig snatching the series has ever seen, Sansa played Littlefinger at the start of the episode, egging him into thinking she would remove Arya as a threat. But what he didn’t realize was the three Starks kids were setting him up. As Sansa called Arya into the Winterfell throne room, the guards shut the doors (reminiscent of the Red Wedding, so you knew s–t was going down), and she began her speech looking at Arya.
You stand accused of murder. You stand accused of treason. How do you answer these charges…Lord Baelish?
Cue everyone looking at Littlefinger, who was like, WTF? Not only did Sansa continue to list off all the horrible wrongs and lies Littlefinger has orchestrated and told over the years, but Bran finally showed up with all his time-travel receipts to completely ruin the worst person in Westeros. That’s right, Littlefinger was responsible for Ned Stark‘s death and his three remaining children avenged him at last. Once Sansa gave Arya the nod of approval, our favorite little killing machine went up to Baelish, who was on his knees begging for his life, and sliced his neck clean open.
This was a moment Game of Thrones fans having been praying for for a very long time, and the internet reacted accordingly. Which means Twitter completely lost its mind.

But what does this mean for Jon and Dany??
Sansa and Arya shared a beautiful moment at the end of the finale, so it seems like a strong Stark sister team has been formed. And with good timing because, despite such a satisfying Stark collaboration to take down Littlefinger, we also saw the Wall broken down and the Night King with his undead army infiltrating the North. Jon and Daenerys are heading there, as well as Jaime Lannister. This is all really happening, and it’s going down where Game of Thrones started: Winterfell. Could the name foreshadow the fall of Winter? Dear gods, we hope so.
