Four finalists battled it out, but only one was victorious. Season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race has ended its run with a nail-biter of a finale that saw all four contenders very credible claimants of the America’s Next Drag Star crown.

FANDOM staff called their predictions to take the title ahead of the show, while also giving a shout out to their personal favourites. Two out of three of FANDOM’s team correctly predicted the winner, with the third declaring the eventual victor most deserving.

And so to the reveal… Sasha Velour is officially America’s Next Drag Star!

For our team, it was Sasha’s individuality that sealed the deal.

“Sasha has performed consistently, delivered the most creative runway looks, and represents a different type of drag,” says FANDOM’s Editor-in-Chief Lawrence Yee, who also praised Sasha’s highbrow humour.

FANDOM Production Co-ordinator Nakita Wunder, meanwhile, called Sasha “a living work of art”, and Entertainment Editor Drew Dietsch referenced her consistently amazing fashion.

The series culminated in a hard-fought lip sync showdown. Two semi-final lip sync battles whipped up excitement, with Peppermint trumping Trinity Taylor with her performance of Britney Spears song “Stronger” in the first and Sasha triumphing over Shea Coulée with “So Emotional” by Whitney Houston.

The final saw Sasha battle off against Peppermint to Whitney’s “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay”, with RuPaul declaring Sasha the winner.
