Here’s “The Week in Fandom” for February 5, 2016:

The Flash / Supergirl Crossover Coming

After months of will-they-won’t-they speculation, this week brought confirmation of an upcoming crossover between CBS’ Supergirl and The CW’s Arrowverse. Not many details have been announced, but we know that The Flash is going to travel the multiverse to Supergirl’s National City where he’ll help her deal with an unknown threat. The episode is titled “World’s Finest,” and will air on March 28.

Showrunner Andrew Kreisberg handles duties for both of the Greg Berlanti-produced programs and has been an instrumental part of making this happen. Will there be other connecting plots and characters that will make their way into the other CW shows? No word as of yet, but fans are happy nonetheless.

Vin Diesel Announces Final Fast Plans

Vin Diesel took to social media this week to announce release plans for the final films in the Fast and Furious franchise. Fast and Furious 9 is coming on April 19, 2019, and Fast and Furious 10 will bring the auto-action saga to a close on April 2, 2021.

The final trilogy begins next year when Fast and Furious 8 hits theaters on April 14, 2017.

Madden Bowl XXII

EA Sports put on its annual Madden Bowl Thursday night, pitting the NFL’s best against each other in Madden NFL. The high-profile sports gaming contest (and star-studded invite-only party) was held at San Francisco’s Nob Hill Masonic Center.

For the first time, it featured two championship games in which the top two NFL players, Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry and Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed, faced off on an Xbox One in Madden Draft Champions Ranked mode. In the end, Berry defeated Reed to win the trophy and, of course, bragging rights.

Louis C.K.’s Horace and Pete

Louis C.K. is disrupting traditional distribution methods once again with his new show, Horace and Pete, a dramedy with an A-list cast which fans can watch on his own website for $5.

The show, which dropped out of the blue last week, is personally financed by C.K., and includes up-to-the-moment current event references, like one about the Iowa caucus — that’s because he’s making it on the fly.

Louis and Steve Buscemi play owners of an Irish bar in the show. Edie Falco, Steven Wright, Alan Alda, and Jessica Lange also star.

Super Bowl Trailer Buzz

We’re already getting a look at some of the hot movie trailers set to debut during Sunday’s big game. Disney has teased their Jungle Book preview, and Paramount is giving fans a quick peek at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

We’re all playing the trailer guessing game, anticipating glimpses of Captain America: Civil War, Alice Through The Looking GlassIndependence Day: Resurgence, Bourne 5, and Deadpool. X-Men: Apocalypse could make a showing, as could Finding Dory. And then there’s the extremely remote possibility that we’ll see a snippet of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Check back Sunday, and we’ll have all the new spots and trailers for you here on Fandom.
