Netflix might have some seriously cool TV shows right now like GLOW and the latest season of Orange is the New Black, and more to come including Castlevania, but that won’t stop you wishing this spoof Netflix Overwatch animated series was real.

Made by YouTube user Lion Montages, this fan trailer for a Netflix Overwatch animated series is giving us serious lust right now. It splices together a number of clips from the game but also the series of animated shorts released by developer Blizzard itself.

And it looks very, very appealing indeed.

If Blizzard was to see this and take what it’s done with its own animated shorts then the idea of a Netflix Overwatch animated series isn’t totally out of the realms of reality.

Overwatch’s characters are so brilliant and have such a huge following that it seems a shame to keep them locked inside an online shooter, but making a proper TV series is a lot of work and a lot of dosh.

Blizzard has already dabbled in animated shorts and even a few comics, with our particular favourite the one where Blizzard revealed the sexuality of character Tracer.

The revelation was a huge nod to the Overwatch and LGBTQ community, because Tracer is the cover star of the game and all its marketing.

“As in real life, having variety in our characters and their identities and backgrounds helps create a richer and overall fictional universe,” said Blizzard Entertainment in a statement at the time. “From the beginning, we’ve wanted the universe of Overwatch to feel welcoming and inclusive, and to reflect the diversity of our players around the world.”
