Since March of 2016, Periscope Games has been developing what they hoped would become the catalyst for a new wave of hardcore, historically accurate shooters based on World War II. Modders from the Battlefield 2 and SQUAD scenes came together to make it a reality. Their baby: Post Scriptum – The Bloody Seventh.

This large scale FPS has players reliving Operation Market Garden, a failed attempt by British-led Allied forces to end the war early by capturing the Ruhr region of Germany and cutting the German Army off from their industrial nexus. Post Scriptum promises not just brutality in the scenario being depicted, but in the learning curve as well. Playing as either the British Airborne Division, British XXX Corps or several branches of the German Army (such as the Wehrmacht or the Waffen SS), you will have to be precise and communicate efficiently with your team in order to claim victory in the 40 vs 40 online battles scenarios. The attention to detail is heavy. Tanks and other vehicles have real world accurate armor thickness and turret speeds. Real uniforms have been 3D-scanned into the game to make the regalia as on point as possible. This is the historian’s shooter, for sure.
