Life continues to get stranger with each episode of Life is Strange 2. Part four of five, titled Faith has just been released on Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Sean and Daniel continue their perilous travel to Mexico, to Puerto Lobos and freedom after their life took a turn for the worse – and strange.
Except…
What sets the fourth episode apart from the previous ones is that Sean is now alone, with his brother, Daniel, missing. At the nadir of his life, arrested by the police, trapped in a hospital, and blind in one eye, players will take control of Sean and lead him towards the scorching deserts of Nevada. His goal? Find his brother and get away from the disaster that his life became. But first, he’ll have to get out of the hospital and back onto the road, from a seemingly impossible trap.
The Story So Far…
Life is Strange 2 began with the first episode’s release in September 2018, with new episodes available roughly every four months. Set three years after the events of the previous game, the sequel features two brothers – Sean Diaz (16 years old) and Daniel Diaz (9 year old) – on the run from the authorities after a mysterious explosion destroyed their street shortly after their father was shot by a police officer.
Resolved to reach their late father’s hometown of Puerto Lobos, the brothers headed south from their home Seattle, passing through Oregon to California, trying to stay ahead of the law. As Daniel is revealed to be a psychic with telekinetic powers, they plunge deeper into the darkness, culminating in a heist… During which Sean is injured, Daniel disappears, and everything becomes a lot more complicated.
The Reception…
The previous episodes were generally received well, with praise given to the themes of the game and its tone. Although avid adventure gamers will have to look for their princess in another castle, they remain solid propositions for those who care more about the storyline and characters, rather than puzzle gameplay and inventory management.
For those who can’t wait for the conclusion, we have some bad news: The four month window between episodes remains and the final episode will not be released until December 3, 2019. Until then, the fate of the brothers will remain up in the air.
Which will give everyone plenty of time to catch up on what did happen and speculate on what might on the Life is Strange Wiki!
