GameChops, Dj CUTMAN’s game music record label, has just released Spindash, a Sega-licensed Sonic the Hedgehog tribute album. Spindash features 16 video game remixers, each with their own unique styles ranging from dubstep to trance. The album is available right now on Loudr.fm for only $10, and individual tracks can be purchased from iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play.
The album is full of creative, imaginative remixes that feel fresh, but still maintain a wealth of nostalgia. Whenever I hear the Green Hill Zone melody, I’m immediately transported back to my childhood years. On Spindash, Remixer Dj Jo transforms the tune into an addictively upbeat, updated version that I just can’t stop listening to. From the rhythmic beats of RobKTA’s “Summer Knocking” to the grooving sounds of Ben Briggs’s “Amy’s Toxic Cave (VIP MIX)”, each track has its own unique flair. It’s a fantastic collaboration of talented remixers that truly pay homage to the original compositions.
