Play as a stranded plane crash survivor in Stranded Deep, a new survival game that just entered Early Access on Steam. Life on an uninhabited, tropical island is much like you’d expect; you’ll scavenge for food and supplies, build a shelter, and do anything to survive. The developers, Beam Team Games, hope to have the game completed by the end of 2015. For more information on the game, stop by the Stranded Deep Wiki.
While the game is only Early Access, it currently contains all of the core mechanics for crafting, building, and interacting. Since arriving on Steam yesterday, players have raved about the game’s immersive atmosphere and vibrant graphics. Several of the existing game features include:
- Infinite World – The world is generated procedurally, so you’ll be able to explore endless amounts of islands and ocean trenches
- Weather and Day/Night Cycle – The game includes dynamic weather conditions, from sunny skies to stormy seas
- Unique Crafting System – You’ll combine resources in the physical world (no crafting slots) to construct shelters, rafts, and more
- Exciting Exploration – Explore tropical islands and sunken shipwrecks in search of rare equipment
- Hunting and Fishing System – From crabs to shark meet, you’ll have to work diligently to find enough food to survive
The development team hopes to include several additional game features, including multiplayer options, co-op gameplay, Occulus Rift support, and more. For a two man team working in Brisbane, Australia, this is no easy feat – but they’re up to the challenge. Their efforts thus far have been phenomenal, and Stranded Deep is a fabulous addition to the growing survival genre. To get a closer look at Stranded Deep, check out the Early Access Trailer below.
