As a stranger lost in a relentless snowstorm, you find yourself in Vidar, a rapidly declining city threatened by a ravenous Beast. Now trapped, you’ll have to race the clock to save Vidar’s remaining townsfolk before the Beast kills every last one. Vidar has already raised over $10,000 in its Kickstarter campaign and is working to become Greenlit on Steam. We’ve partnered with Dean Razavi, the game’s creator, to bring you the Official Vidar Wiki, where you’ll find information on the game’s characters, quests, and more.
Vidar, the former capital of a prosperous kingdom, has transformed from a bustling city to a desolate town plagued with famine and sickness. With only twenty-four citizens still alive, a new threat has emerged. A dangerous Beast has begun to attack the remaining villagers. Every night, another person dies. You have less than twenty-four days to stop the Beast from killing every single citizen. Will you be able to rescue the remaining townsfolk from their fast-approaching doom? Game features include:
- Random storytelling – Each surviving resident of Vidar has their own unique story. The characters in the game are not only affected by the deaths of their own friends and family, but also your own actions. Because the order of deaths in each game is random, games will vary greatly. An example from the Vidar Steam page states:
In one playthrough, the priest may die the first night; in the next, he’ll invite the remaining townsfolk to barricade themselves in the Church as a last effort to survive; in the next, he’ll grieve the loss of a close friend and give up the cloth for good.
- Puzzle-driven exploration – To stop the Beast, you’ll need to explore its den and the area around Vidar. You’ll encounter a myriad of characters, including ghosts trapped reenacting past wars and a mysterious lady-of-the-lake. You’ll face challenging environmental puzzles that will lead you closer to discovering Vidar’s secrets and stopping the dreaded Beast.
