Some of the best trailers of the year come out in March, as there are a bunch of end of fiscal year statements to be made. This list rounds up the most dramatic of those statements. From Rainbow Six to Bloodborne, these trailers run the gamut and are the very best clips of March’s visual splendor.
Evolve DLC Reveal
Nothing puts the fire back into a game about hunting monsters like adding a bigger, badder monster to hunt. That and giving player four more characters to do the hunting with. Slim, the new bug-humanoid medic, looks super awesome.
Rainbow Six: Siege – Operators
This gameplay trailer is the first real extended look at the gameplay features of the latest in the long running Rainbow Six series since it’s debut at Ubisoft’s press conference last E3. It has all the makings of a game poised to change first person shooters forever.
Pillars of Eternity Launch Trailer
An RPG firmly rooted in the old school, Pillars is everything that the Infinity Engine used to represent, but so much more. Deep dungeoneering, complex character building, and more content than you can swing a sword at.
Mario Party 10 Launch Trailer
Sporting new boards and Amiibo support, Mario Party 10 plans to keep the board game franchise alive on the Wii U. Playing a friendly game with my peers seems fun and all, but Bowser Party – where you take control of the infamous dragon turtle and terrorize the other players in custom built games – seems more my speed.
Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition Announcment Trailer
The first look at the DMC 4 remake got hardcore devil hunters hot and bothered. Not only did it show off the new, high res polish and tweaked game play mechanics, but it debuted the 5 playable characters featured in the title. That’s the most characters playable in any game in the franchise. Stylish!
Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack
This trailer set the Internet ablaze when it debuted, party because the hype around MKX is reaching critical mass. Much of the hype rests squarely on the shoulders of intergalactic manhunter Predator’s shoulders, who was revealed as a playable character in the next installment of the bloody brawler. Alongside Jason Voorhees, Tremor, and Tanya, the extended cast is looking quite eccentric. And for Mortal Kombat, that’s saying a lot!
Bloodborne – Cut You Down
As if people needed anymore convincing to buy this game, this final trailer highlights the best parts of this Miyazaki masterpiece. This gritty, bloody, white knuckle kill fest promises to be the challenging catharsis gamers have come to expect from recent From Software titles.
Paula Deen’s Recipe Quest
Whether this game is worth playing or not is debatable. What isn’t up for discussion is if you should watch this absolutely nutty trailer. Words will escape you as you watch the famous TV chef give streams of milk a maddening gaze. She’s looked into the butter abyss, and it clearly has stared back.
Ori and the Blind Forest Launch Trailer
Even if platformers aren’t your thing, everyone should spare a minute to watch Ori and the Blind Forest in action. It is incredibly beautiful, with that Vanillaware style of over saturated watercolor that gives the many diverse environments of the title real character.
Blackrock Mountain: A Hearthstone Adventure Cinematic Trailer
The second single player adventure pack got a brief cinematic trailer, full of the fire and smoke that Warcraft fans are all too familiar with. It doesn’t do much in the way of educating players on what to expect from the expansion set, but it does have a catchy little jingle.
Metal Gear Solid Online Commentary Trailer
So the commentary trailer for this MGS V side dish comes complete with commentary explaining the many tactical options, gadgets, and inside jokes moving from the main game into this online mode. MGO was always my favorite part of MGS4, so seeing it in motion and full of surprises is everything I could ask for.
