Yo-Kai Watch is a Japanese franchise that began with a sole Nintendo 3DS title that was released in Japan in 2013. Less than a year later, the game had sold 500,000 copies and the developers, Level-5, filed to trademark the name in the US. Nintendo recently announced that they would be publishing the game in North America for the 2015 holiday season, and a Yo-Kai Watch anime series will begin airing on Disney XD later this year. Needless to say, you’re going to be hearing a lot more about Yo-Kai Watch in the near future. It’s predicted that the game will mirror the success of the notable Japanese franchise Pokémon. The franchise even includes an adorable sidekick similar to beloved Pikachu: Jibanyan.
