Bethesda’s E3 2016 presentation was chock full of heavy hitters, Prey 2, Quake Champions, and Dishonored 2, not to mention VR enabled versions of Doom and Fallout 4, but there was an easter egg in the first few seconds that was easy to miss.
The stream opened with an MS-DOS boot prompt showing a list of executable programs, an obvious nod to their PC gaming heritage. It quickly scrolled by, but it listed a brief timeline of their titles, including Commander Keen, Wolfenstein, and Doom. Listed after New_Order and Old_Blood (Wolfenstein: The New Order and its standalone expansion Wolfenstein: The Old Blood respectively) was New_Colossus.

The New_Colossus entry is conspicuously the only item on the list without a release date, which seems like a solid indicator it’s an unreleased title. Those two points may seem a little shaky on their own, but even the name can be tied to Wolfenstein. The New Colossus refers to the poem at the base of the Statue of Liberty, the significance of which should be clear to anyone who completed The New Order.
But hey, we’re just spitballing here, nothing’s concrete until Bethesda says so but this easter egg seems too intentional to be a throw away.
