There was a massive, well-earned outpouring of love and appreciation from fans and colleagues alike for Bob Odenkirk when he suffered a heart attack on set while filming the sixth season of Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad prequel/spinoff he starred in. Very thankfully, Odenkirk fully recovered and soon after, he returned to set to complete the acclaimed show’s terrific final season, but it’s hard not to wonder what would have happened if that hadn’t been the case and he was unable to keep working.
Fandom has an exclusive clip from the special features of the new Better Call Saul Season 6 Blu-ray and DVD, in which Odenkirk and Saul co-creator Peter Gould reflect on Okdenkirk’s heart attack. Odenkirk says that while he knows his colleagues would not have felt it appropriate to finish the show without him, he would have wanted them to do so, simply to see the story finished in whatever manner they could, even with a different actor. Though he does admit that would not have been such a great way to see things wrapped up…
Check out the clip above, which also includes Saul cast member Patrick Fabian (“Howard Hamlin“) reflecting on how emotional it was realizing the series was reaching its conclusion.
