We’ve yet to have an official confirmation, but it looks like you could be playing Darksiders 3 in 2018. Or at least that’s what a new Amazon leak suggests, anyway.
As spotted by Gematsu, an Amazon listing suggests that Darksiders 3 will launch on December 31, 2018 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
The listing goes one further though, giving us an idea of the game’s storyline and the hero. Apparently, you’ll play as a female mage called Fury, who uses a whip and her magical abilities to restore the balance between good and evil. The listing describes her as “the most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen“.
In previous Darksiders titles, you played as War and Death from the Four Horsemen, so this is actually plausible.
In Darksiders 3, it seems like Fury will have several forms, with each one granting her access to new weapons, moves and abilities. The game will see you trying to defeat the Seven Deadly Sins and their various servants in a rather impressive post-apocalyptic environment.
The above screenshots leaked alongside the Amazon listing, which suggests that an official announcement is pretty much imminent.
Darksiders 3 is being developed by Gunfire Games, which is a studio set up by the folks that made the original Darksiders. That game was made by developer Vigil Games, which went under after publisher THQ went bust. THQ Nordic has since picked up the series and recently released a Darksiders remaster, showing that the series is very much not on the shelf.
We’re assuming that December release date is merely a placeholder, but hopefully the developer will give us some official information soon. Darksiders is a well-loved franchise and we’d love to see a third instalment arrive in the next few years.
