A trailer for the Japanese film Death Note: Light Up the New World has come out in the last few days. The film series is based on the manga Death Note which was created by both Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata and has been adapted into an anime series, several novels, a musical and a live-action drama. The film is the 4th film in the Death Note Live-action series and takes place ten years after the battle between L and Light in Death Note: The Last Name with once again, Shinigami bringing their Death Notes to the human world and in by doing so unleashes all sorts of chaos onto it.
The plot of the film involves 3 characters the first of which is following in the footsteps of the late Soichiro Yagami’s, and is named Tsukuru Mishima and leads the Death Note Task Force, the second is Ryuzaki, who claims to be the true successor of L, and is also investigating these events. and the third is Yuki Shien a cyber-terrorist and a Kira supporter. And two of these individuals have reportingly inherited the DNA of Light Yagami and L. A three-way battle ensues between these men over the notebooks, who will win and who will die. The film will be seeing the return of a few original characters from manga like Ryuk, Misa Amane and Touta Masuda though they will not have a major role in the upcoming film. The film will also be introducing new Shinigami’s to the live-action universe. The film will also make use of the rule that only six Death Notes can be active in the human world at the same time.
The film will premiere on October 29, 2016, in theaters all across Japan.
