He’s baaaack.
The world’s most vengeful ‘Blind Man’ AKA Norman Nordstrom (played by Stephen Lang) is returning to our screens this month in the much-anticipated ‘Don’t Breathe 2’.
In cult horror hit ‘Don’t Breathe’ (2016), we were first introduced to Nordstrom, an elderly, blind man with a chunk of cash from a settlement following the death of his only child, tragically caused by a drunk driver. To a group of three thieves (Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette and Daniel Zovatto), Nordstrom seemed like an easy target.
But after deciding to try their luck and rob him, they quickly discovered all wasn’t as it seemed, and they were now terrifyingly locked in the home of someone a lot more capable than they’d previously assumed. A lot more.
Now, eight years later, in a sequel by the creators of the original film, Nordstrom has recreated the family that was so unjustly taken from him and is living with 11-year-old Phoenix (Madelyn Grace), orphaned from a devastating house fire, in an isolated cabin.
The pair’s peaceful life quickly becomes chaotic when, once again, Nordstrom becomes the target of a robbery – this time, though, with Phoenix what, or rather who, the thieves are after.
“It’s not me you need to be scared of, little girl,” one of the kidnappers (Brendan Sexton III) tells Phoenix in the trailer. “But the man standing next to you.”
The assailant continues: “Now I don’t know who he is, but I know who he’s not. Should I tell her or you?” Naturally, Nordstrom wasn’t impressed.
Back in March this year, ‘Don’t Breathe’ director Fede Alvarez, who co-wrote and co-produced the sequel, gave fans some insight into what to expect.
“‘Don’t Breathe 2’ is really fascinating, I can’t wait for you to see it,” he told SyFy Wire. “You have no idea what’s coming. As a sequel, it’s just quite different. It has everything you love about the first one, hopefully, but done with a completely different approach, storytelling-wise.”
And from the looks of the trailer, that’s exactly how we’d describe it, too. Expect more locked doors, dark rooms and stomach-dropping, breath-holding moments – and, when it comes to the sequel’s plotline and twists, a whole lot new.
