While they might still be reeling after Thanos wiped out half of the universe, the Avengers team will reassemble for a fight to save reality in Avengers: Endgame. The stakes have never been higher after they watched their friends and family disintegrate at the end of Infinity War. And it’s hard to imagine, at this point, just how the surviving members could defeat Thanos, but we’ve got a few ideas on how a handful your favorite heroes could do just that. Let’s take a look at what Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Nebula, and Captain Marvel may bring to the table.

Captain America

Steve Rogers is angry — and that might just be his greatest strength in Avengers: Endgame. Sure, the super soldier serum gives him a set of heightened abilities – but it’s the inner courage, desperation, and rage that will really drive him in the fight against Thanos.

But aside from his moral compass and emotional motivations, his sheer strength is clearly able to stand against the Mad Titan. Remember the incredible moment during the Infinity War finale where Steve held Thanos back? Bearing in mind he’d already been fighting the Outrider army for quite some time, he probably wasn’t even at full strength. Even though Cap eventually went down after a heavy punch from the villain, it’s likely he could hold his own against Thanos a second time – especially with a technological assist from Tony Stark. Let’s not forget he should be strapping a certain Vibranium shield on to his arm too.

Iron Man

What does Iron Man do when he’s beaten down? If Tony’s previous setbacks are anything to go by; it’s safe to assume he creates a brand-new suit.

By the end of Infinity War, Tony and Nebula were the only ones left alive on Titan after the decimation. In the footage we’ve seen so far, they buddy together on a ship left adrift in the cosmos – and they’ll likely make it home with the help of some other heroes. But if Tony’s armor is already cutting edge, imagine what he’d be able to produce with alien technology from other civilizations? Tony will be able to give his arsenal an extra boost so that next time he faces Thanos.

Hulk

The troubled relationship between Hulk and Bruce could be resolved in the effort of facing a bigger threat. After all, Hulk has witnessed the true might of Thanos at first hand. He did take a monumental beating, which was more than just a physical defeat.

We saw a rather childlike Hulk during Thor: Ragnarok. It would make sense to evolve the character into a more intelligent unstoppable beast. It’s happened in the comics, with several identities like Professor Hulk coming together to be the best of both Bruce and his alter-ego. With Banner’s brains alongside the Hulk’s brawn, he’d be a great match for physically fighting Thanos.

Nebula

After the heartbreaking loss of Gamora, Nebula has been shaken. And once she realized what Thanos had achieved, she’s left near speechless while stranded with Tony on Titan. It’ll be interesting to see their dynamic on the ship during Endgame – but she’ll likely be a fantastic ally for Tony and his technical prowess. She’s a cyborg, and simply observing her could spark countless ideas in Tony’s brain.

Furthermore, it’s possible that Nebula will use her unique relationship to Thanos to gain an advantage over him. Cleary, she brings a lot to the table there.

Captain Marvel

Carol Danvers has finally made her live-action debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and she’s here to stay. Captain Marvel’s “binary” mode a visual treat, and she’s a mighty force to be reckoned with.

Thanos vs. Carol? Our money’s on Danvers in the red, blue and gold corner. After all, thanks to her Kree genetics she can endure much more damage than other heroes – and those energy blasts look like they could knock Thano’s purple chin clean off.

Avengers: Endgame is in theaters from April 26.
