Fandom, the world’s largest fan platform, returned once more to San Diego to rock our geeky socks off, hosting a highly-anticipated sixth annual event during the biggest fan convention of the year. It all went down on July 20 at Float at the Hard Rock Hotel.
With a historic performance by K-pop stars NCT DoJaeJung, the Fandom San Diego Party was presented by streamer Paramount+, giving fans in attendance the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of activations surrounding some of this era’s biggest titles – including Paramount’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Yellowjackets – and EA, who showcased their upcoming video game release Immortals of Aveum, coming to consoles this summer.
Other party sponsors included Z2 Comics, who came complete with custom comic activations, as well as Pinfinity with its one-of-a-kind augmented reality collectible pin for party guests.
Party guests – including notable industry talent, executives, influencers, cosplayers, convention-goers, and fans – were escorted through “Fan Central,” the epicenter of pop culture where Fandom guided them through an unforgettable night of curated, immersive experiences including interactive photo booths, an exclusive Immortals of Aveum activation revealing game footage, fun giveaways, and an AR experience from partner Pinfinity.
And of course, there was the much-anticipated performance by NCT DoJaeJung, who had some fans waiting for hours near the front of the stage just so they could have a perfect, close-up view when they performed. Performing their songs “Kiss,” “Dive,” and “Perfume” NCT DoJaeJung electrified the atmosphere, making for a truly unforgettable night.
It was the trio’s first time in San Diego and they were proud to bring K-pop into the realm of fan convention craziness. The NCTizens who caught their show were just as honored too.
The Fandom Party was also an amazing chance for fans to catch a glimpse of Immortals of Aveum, a first-person-shooter starring Firefly’s Gina Torres from new game developer Ascendant Studios. As always, gaming is such an integral part of pop-culture that treating partygoers to that experience – along with movies, TV, and music – created the perfect fan experience.
