Wonder Woman is just around the corner. The next entry in the DC Extended Universe has a lot riding on its shoulders. Will it be the first DCEU film to have a positive Rotten Tomatoes score? Will it be a great showcase for the first female-led superhero film?
We’ve got one last trailer to look at and it’s a doozy. Check it out and prepare yourself for a whole lot of Amazonian action.
Action, Action, and More Action
There is A LOT going on in this trailer. Suffice to say, this is going to be an action-packed extravaganza. Director Patty Jenkins is bringing a lot of bombast to the big screen. Her assertion that this is going to be like Superman meets Casablanca actually looks fairly well founded. And it’s hard to deny the sheer coolness of a lot of Diana’s fighting. The shot of her shielding herself from all those bullets? Damn, that’s awesome.
We’ve also got enough of the plot to go on without being totally spoiled. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if this Dr. Poison character is something of a misdirect for a larger villain. We know that Ares is in the film but the marketing is keeping him shrouded. Perhaps his involvement is going to be something spoilery?
Regardless, there is a lot in this trailer to like. The period setting, the slightly more fun tone, and the abundance of excellent fight scenes. The jury is still out on whether Gal Gadot can anchor the film, but there is no concrete evidence as to why she can’t at this point. And her comedic chemistry with Chris Pine looks to be one of the highlights of the movie. That alone looks like it’s going t be worth the price of admission.
Wonder Woman, the fourth entry in the DC Extended Universe, hits theaters on June 2.
