It was the end of the road for Michael Myers, or at least the current incarnation of Haddonfield‘s legendary boogeyman, in Halloween Ends this year. The film brought to a close the decades-long battle between Michael and Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and wrapped up the modern day story co-writer/director David Gordon Green had told in 2018’s Halloween and 2021’s Halloween Kills.
Michael has long been one of horror’s most famous and recognizable icons and a key aspect of that is, of course, his mask. As fans know, the original Michael mask from John Carpenter‘s original Halloween film in 1978 was a store bought Captain Kirk mask, with some notable modifications leading to the chilling visage that had audiences instantly terrified and fascinated in equal measure.
Fandom has an exclusive clip from the bonus features that can be found on the new Halloween Ends 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD releases, coming out, somewhat amusingly, right after Christmas. In this clip from a featurette called “The Visions of Terror,” Halloween Ends Special Make-Up FX Designer Christopher Nelson discusses how he approached the look of Michael’s mask for this particular film and how it needed to reflect the progression of the character throughout the story up until now. Halloween Ends is now on Digital, with the 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD coming out December 27. On December 27 a collection of all three of the David Gordon Green films is also being released on 4K as the Halloween Trilogy box set.
