Before leaving to go head the new slate of DC superhero movies, including writing and directing Superman Legacy, James Gunn had one last job to pull for Marvel. And the result is the masterpiece that is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the third in a trilogy that brings to a close the stories of Peter Quill, Rocket, Groot, Drax, Nebula, Mantis, and alternate timeline Gamora.
Standing tall amongst a recent crop of MCU offerings that – er – haven’t exactly been received well, Vol. 3 pits our beloved ragtag found family team against the architect of Rocket past pain, the High Evolutionary, the latest in a long line of purple villains (and yet another guy proving that scientific advancement only leads to pain).
