Warner Bros. just dropped the terrifying full trailer for the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s It, and It is terrifying.
“It” being the malevolent evil that may behind the kidnappings in Derry, Maine, that takes the form of a white-skinned, flame-haired clown named Pennywise.
In previous teasers, Pennywise (brought to life by Bill Skarsgard) has remained obscured, hiding in the sewers or appearing in photos. That all changes in this trailer, where he terrorizes the children of Derry in person.
In one scene, he emerges from a flooded basement. Later, he grabs a young girl Beverly (Sophia Lillis) by the neck. But the most terrifying scene is when bespectacled Richie (Finn Wolfhard) is trapped in a room full of clown dolls, one of which is Pennywise himself. You’ll just have to watch and see what happens.
Be warned, if you suffer from coulrophobia — the fear of clowns — you’ll probably want to skip out on this one.
It opens in theaters on September 8, 2017.
