The new, epic trailer for Captain America: Civil War is here. And it’s amazing.
All of the heroes-at-odds hype is there, and it’s on point. But the drama of the Avengers’ conflict is upstaged by a brand new hero making his first MCU appearance. Watch the trailer now, and we’ll talk more about that below.
Yes, it’s Spider-Man!
Fans have been waiting (not so) patiently for their first look at the new Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland in Civil War. Holland will reprise the role in Marvel/Sony’s 2017 Spider-Man, and subsequent movies in the series.
The trailer affords Spidey a brief introduction, but Tony calling him “Underoos” is all the Webslinger goodness we can handle right now.
Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team.
The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps — one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
Captain America: Civil War opens in U.S. theaters on May 6th, 2016.
