Unlike some of the larger press conferences at E3 2016, PC Gamer’s PC Gaming Show gave the bulk of their time to highlight developers who, unsurprisingly, call the PC their home. A huge number of titles were shown, so we’re gonna keep it quick with a brief list of highlights.
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War III
Relic’s premier RTS showed off some gameplay footage, including the updated massive end-game Space Marine Orbital Bombardment power, which now lets you control the laser beam as it glasses your enemies. They also showed off a massive Blood Ravens Space Marine on stage, though even with the Emperor’s Blessing, he still needed two handlers to walk him out. Check out our interview with the devs above!
Oxygen Not Included
Klei, makers of the excellent Mark of the Ninja and Don’t Starve have a new game coming out! It’s a space colony simulation with a cute Scribblenauts look to it. It’s scheduled for release late 2016/early 2017.
ARK: Survival Evolved
Studio Wildcard revealed a massive dinosaur for ARK: Survival Evolved called a Titanosaur, an enormous, borderline indestructible creature that you can actually build stuff on top of. Make your traveling dinosaur fortress a reality today! They also revealed an official mod called Primal Survival being worked on by their Egyptian team that allows you to play as any animal in the game! From the tiniest ant to the angriest dino, all kinds of different animals were shown off from a first-person perspective.
Giant Cop
A VR god game where you play as, wait for it, a giant cop. Stop crimes, terrify the citizenry, basically do whatever you want. You’re a cop, and you’re huge, who’s gonna stop you?
Lawbreakers
Cliff Bleszinski took the stage to talk about Lawbreakers, the upcoming competitive FPS. The game looks fast as heck, featuring a lot of aerial combat thanks to the grappling hook mechanic and the way the game plays with gravity that allows players to Spider-Man their way across the maps. Cliff described Lawbreakers as “[…] the Mortal Kombat to Overwatch’s Street Fighter.”
Vampyr
By far one the hardest pivots we’ve seen in a while, the Bloodborne-esque Vampyr comes to us from DONTNOD, developers of Remember Me and Life is Strange. The gameplay demo featured melee combat and some magic abilities being used against a group of citizens out to kill the Vampyr.
Killing Floor VR
Killing Floor developer Tripwire Interactive touted an upcoming VR version of the game, optimized for Oculus Touch which led into the next announcement…
Superhot VR
That Superhot is getting on the VR train as well. The demo showed off brawling melee attacks in real time using the Oculus touch controllers.
Observer
A spooky cyberpunk horror game from the Layers of Fear team. The brief video showed a dingy hall overlayed with malfunctioning computer displays, and ends with a large hooded man suddenly appearing at the end of it.
Halo Wars 2
It’s probably better on PC, but check out my Xbox One preview.
