FOX’s Prison Break revival is coming. We’ve seen the first episode and we’re here to tell you that it’s everything fans want and more.
Don’t worry, we won’t get into spoilers right now, but returning fans will love how their favorite characters like Michael and Linc are reintroduced. And for all Prison Break newcomers, the first episode does a nice job of welcoming newcomers.
The new series picks up when clues surface that suggest a previously thought-to-be-dead Michael may be alive. Lincoln and Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies), Michael’s wife until he was presumed dead, reunite to engineer the biggest escape ever, as three of Fox River State Penitentiary’s most notorious escapees, Sucre, T-Bag and C-Note are pulled back into the action.
While fans of Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will love to see them back in action in the action-packed, globe-spanning adventure, it’s Robert Knepper who steals the show as T-Bag.
Prison Break has a substantial established following, but newcomers might not be sure if they should dive right into the show since this is essentially Season 5. That’s not really a problem since the first episode catches the audience up on the most important elements of the show before kicking into high gear.
If you’ve watched the show before, you might get a little more out of it, but you don’t really have to know the history of a character like T-Bag is to understand how loquacious/scummy/hilarious he is.
An exciting story and performances from the great cast — Dominic Purcell nails it in his return as Lincoln — will capture the emotional investment of any newcomer willing to give it a chance.
If the first episode is any indication, the Prison Break revival will have all of the things that made the original great: fun characters, great action, and mysterious puzzles to solve.
